So this Cloverfield stuff has officially got me hooked.
I was on the computer the other day, when I noticed that all of my "Favorite"-ed Cloverfield sites said that a new viral site was discovered...my friends, after that fateful moment, all of my free time disappeared.
Anyways, school is school, work is work, life is life. But LOST comes on in February, Cloverfield in January, and there have been reports of LOST previews in certain movie theatre chains (although I am pretty certain that my chain isn't one of them). I guess after all of the craziness of having a movie theatre job, the perks are finally visable. All of this hype around cloverfield promotional posters and items, its great, but I am in a position to walk away with so much...I am going to get a poster (I've already made a deal with the projectionists) and hopefully we get tshirts or something good like that for my usage.
For now, with it still being over a month away, I am dealing with the standee. An eight foot tall, amazing cardboard creation dedicated to CLOVERFIELD and all of its glory.
I took pictures. In the lobby. Squealing and singing. People stared.
Its actually kind of funny. I was so excited to see that we got something as big as a standee for the movie; actually, we don't get many standees, so I was pumped that the hype for this movie has gotten us one. The pictures above (taken on my cell phone, mind you, so don't laugh) are of the standee. It was really exciting. In a fanboy kind of way...
Anywho, I'm ordering (or hoping to order) some slusho! gear for Christmas. I am buying myself a tshirt, but the hat isn't likely. For those of you who don't know, when you order slusho! gear, you get Tagruato memos, or japanese newspaper clips, or all kind of stuff. It really depends on the gimmick at that time. It's really just that, a gimmick, but one I'm willing to put money into.
Anywho, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, go to these sites....please...

Gee Whiz... that standee is quite impressive, to say the least. Paramount is really going all out to promote this thing. I had no clue I was so incredibly behind on the viral marketing ARG thing... I'm downright ashamed, my geek card should be revoked!
On the bright side it looks like I have plenty of reading material for the next couple of days. I'll be back to post my thoughts on the ARG after I'm caught up.
And of course, thanks a ton for sharing those photos of the standee.

Wow, will I even be able to catch up on everything? I'm so behind!
Okay.. I'm not quite done reading up on this stuff yet but here's what I have so far:
I love the whole Slusho part of the marketing... how it ties into JJ's other show Alias, the fact that it appeared on Heroes recently. Wouldn't it be beyond AWESOME if Slusho were to make a brief cameo on LOST when it returns? And more importantly I NEED some type of Slusho apparel! Preferably a black tee. But that's beside the point.
As far as the Cloverfield "creature" goes, I don't really have any solid theories of my own just yet. I have read a few others' thoughts on what it may or may not be. My least favorite is this one dude who thinks it's a mutant bear. Why? I have not clue. But I do know if it did turn out to be a bear I would cry..uncontrollably...for days.
But I know Mr. Abrams and his work well enough to say there's NO WAY it's a bear. (I pray it's not a mutant bear)
I'm off to do some more reading on the subject, I'll be back when I have some thoughts worth posting.
